Goodbye Pontiac

I can't find any pictures of the Pontiac besides these: these are from the days Matt lived just off campus @ The U. I decorated his car as a surprise :)
The Pontiac never had a name besides that. "The Pontiac". This car took Matt to Veritas (summer job in Arizona) a few years. Our first car (especially after my Malibu was totaled). The last few months, though, the poor old thing would just die on us and we'd have to pull over to restart it. After many repairs, we finally decided it was time to get a reliable car... this is where things get interesting.
Matt wanted a reliable car. Newer would be more reliable. I wanted a reliable used car, but couldn't find one that was really reliable for the cash I was willing to put into it. In the end I conceded and we bought a "new" used car from Enterprise Car Rental. There we met Max, who showed us some cars and spent the majority of a Saturday with us to fill out paperwork. ( I dread what buying a house will be like after this experience.)
After spending hours filling out the paperwork, emptying the Pontiac, I went to start our new car and pick up Matt. He was giving the Pontiac keys to Max... and then did this:
"I changed my mind. I just can't part with the Pontiac."
Matt describes Max's face as sudden disappointment quickly removed by "gotta be professional" look. You could just see him thinking 'keep it together'.
"If that's what you want." he replies.
"Naw I'm just kidding ya." Matt gives the Pontiac keys to a man who looks either relieved or fighting the urge to punch him in the face.
